Sustainability at BCD Travel – our six Focus Areas

We have an obligation to ourselves, our clients and our communities to grow sustainably. We ethically manage our environmental, social and financial responsibilities to ensure our ongoing business success – without limiting options for future generations. And as we reinforce our commitment to sustainability, we’re partnering with clients to help them build their own sustainable travel program initiatives.

Our global sustainability management system incorporates six Focus Areas, including  governance, ethics and compliance; workplace practices; environment; sustainable procurement; service performance and charity and community support. For each of these Focus Areas we have established long-term commitments as well as annual objectives – they set the framework for our continued improvement.

Be You at BCD Logo

Our commitment to Diversity & Inclusion touches each of these Focus Areas, enabling us to celebrate and nurture different voices, backgrounds and perspectives in our workforce – so that each individual can Be You at BCD.

At BCD Travel, we have a long history of being the first to sign up to leading sustainability frameworks and aligning our commitments to these best practices. In seeking out and maintaining a thought leadership position in sustainability management, we continue to evolve with the needs of our business, our planet and global socio-economic development.

Innovation for sustainable business travel

We work across BCD Travel, BCD Meetings & Events (BCD M&E) and Advito to drive our shared commitment to build a better future for sustainable business travel. With our leading solutions, we continue to push the boundaries on what it means to implement a sustainable business travel program. From our ISO 14064 and ISO 14065 carbon emissions calculation methodology, to our traveler engagement and wellbeing strategies – we’re leading the way to help our clients build sustainable travel agendas.

BCD employees who are engaged, and bring diverse perspectives and an inclusive culture

Integrating our talent development, wellbeing initiatives and Diversity & Inclusion program into our company is not only the right thing to do for our employees – it’s also good business. Time and again research demonstrates that companies who take these areas of the employee experience seriously are building their business to succeed. For our clients, our approach translates to working with leading travel industry professionals who bring innovation and diverse perspectives.

Sustainability across the value chain

We recognize our responsibility to add sustainable value both up and down the supply chain to help change the procurement landscape. Our Supplier Code of Conduct clearly outlines BCD’s expectations of our suppliers across environmental, social and ethical business practices. Through our third-party audited best practices, we also support our clients’ sustainable procurement strategies.

Social projects that make a difference

Despite the challenges brought about by COVID-19, we remain committed to over 40 community projects across the globe through our Making a Difference program. We also continue with our partnerships with ECPAT, A21 and Anti-Slavery International in support of our objective to drive education and awareness about modern-day slavery.
