Sustainability at BCD Travel

As we continue to emerge from an extraordinarily challenging time in the corporate travel and meetings industry, sustainability has remained a constant focus. We ethically manage our environmental, social and financial responsibilities to ensure our ongoing business success – without limiting options for future generations. And as we reinforce our commitment to sustainability, we’re partnering with clients to help them build their own sustainable travel program initiatives.

Our Sustainability Framework is designed to put sustainability at the center of our relationships with four key audiences, to best influence change across these groups.

To further drive sustainability for these audiences it’s key that we think beyond carbon. That’s why BCD’s definition of sustainability is broad – and one that encompasses many issues from wellness and Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, to nature, social impact and climate action.

BCD Travel has long been recognized as the leading TMC in the area of sustainability. Our Platinum EcoVadis rating, ISO certified offices and systems, and long-standing commitment to the UN Global Compact and UN Sustainable Development Goals have set us apart. Now is the time to take our sustainability commitments and actions to the next level. We must use the power of our networks to influence a more sustainable business travel sector - one that drives meaningful value for those who travel, brings tangible benefits to the people and places that host travelers, and minimizes its impact on the environment.

Sustainable business travel - partnership that guarantees…

Trust that minimizes risk

We anticipate and align our global governance and sustainability management system with the latest governance, ethics and compliance legislation. The annual assessment of our sustainable business practices by EcoVadis – the world’s most trusted business sustainability ratings provider – increases transparency and reduces risk in your supply chain. Our global sustainability management system has been platinum rated three times, and is in the top 1% of all suppliers assessed – a measurement of our leading expertise in sustainability best practices.

Innovation for sustainable business travel practices

We work across BCD Travel, BCD Meetings & Events (BCD M&E) and Advito to drive our shared commitment to build a better future for sustainable business travel. With our leading solutions, we continue to push the boundaries on what it means to implement a sustainable business travel program. From our ISO 14064 and ISO 14065 carbon emissions calculation methodology, to our traveler engagement and wellbeing strategies – we’re leading the way to help our clients build sustainable travel agendas.

Engagement, diverse perspectives and an inclusive culture

Integrating Diversity, Equity & Inclusion into our company is not only the right thing to do for our employees – it’s also good business. Time and again research demonstrates that companies who take these areas of the employee experience seriously are building their business to succeed. For our clients, our approach translates to working with leading travel industry professionals who bring innovation and diverse perspectives.

Scienced-based target contributions

Our environmental impact strategy is based on the latest climate science and aligns with the Science Based Targets initiative, the CDP, EcoVadis, the UN Global Compact, the UN SDGs and the GRI. We’re also ISO 14001 certified across all our majority-owned markets. Our compliance to these frameworks supports our clients’ science-based targets and reporting requirements.

Sustainability across the value chain

We recognize our responsibility to add sustainable value both up and down the supply chain to help change the procurement landscape. Our Supplier Code of Conduct clearly outlines BCD’s expectations of our suppliers across environmental, social and ethical business practices. Through our third-party audited best practices, we also support our clients’ sustainable procurement strategies.

Social projects that make a difference

Our Making a Difference program supports 39 community projects accross the world. We are committed to driving education and awareness of human trafficking and modern day slavery and are proud to partner with PACT and A21.
