City guide: Atlanta

What to do and where to eat in the ‘Capital of the South.’

Atlanta is the capital of Georgia and an economic and cultural hub of the southeastern United States. Metro Atlanta is a sports mecca, with professional football, baseball, soccer and basketball teams. It’s home to one of the world’s busiest airports and Fortune 500 giants like The Coca-Cola Company, The Home Depot and Delta Air Lines. Atlanta also is making a name for itself as  a center for film and television production. Thriving industries include finance, technology, telecommunications and media.

One thing you shouldn’t miss

Explore the Atlanta BeltLine. Start at Piedmont Park for a taste of nature and great city views or Ponce City Market to shop and snack before you get on your way. Rent a bike or walk along the well-traveled trail and treat yourself to a bite at Krog Street Market. It’s the perfect way to get some exercise while checking out the city’s evolving urban landscape.

Food & drink

Sotto Sotto prides itself on being fresh, simple and traditional. Opened in 1999, it’s one of the most celebrated Italian restaurants in the city. Come here to enjoy authentic food, great wine, cozy ambience and stellar service. We suggest making a reservation to guarantee you don’t miss out.

If you’re looking for a unique dining experience, check out Gunshow. You might recognize chef and owner Kevin Gillespie from the competitive cooking show “Top Chef.” His concept removes the barrier between the kitchen and diners, so they experience every aspect of the meal. Servers (sometimes Gillespie himself) bring dishes to tables and describe the food in detail. Then you decide what you want to try.
