In line with the company’s aggressive acquisition strategy, BCD Travel has taken majority ownership of its long-term China and Hong Kong joint venture. The two markets will be combined into a new Greater China market.

“We’re growing in markets where demand for corporate travel services is increasing and where our clients want us to be. Greater China opens up new business opportunities for us in one of the world’s largest markets,” said John Snyder, president and CEO of BCD Travel.

The new BCD Travel Greater China will employ more than 470, operating from three offices in China and one in Hong Kong. With a population of 1.4 billion people and an average GDP growth of 6.8% per year, Greater China represents significant opportunity for growth for the company in the Asia-Pacific region.

Jonathan Kao has been named managing director for BCD Travel Greater China. He holds an Economics degree from the University of Toronto and a Master’s degree in e-Business from the City University of Hong Kong.

“Jonathan brings 15 years of extensive Greater China experience and deep industry knowledge to the managing director role. With him in place, we’ll further build our brand and grow our business in China and Hong Kong,” said Greg O’Neil, BCD Travel’s president of Asia Pacific.
