Working at BCD Travel
Meet some of the people who make BCD Travel a great place to work.
Focus on Bid Specialists
We typically feature the people of BCD in their various roles throughout the company.
This month we wanted to discuss two BCD team members who changed positions while at the company. BCD supports and encourages our people to find jobs here that they love, and that fit their interests and skill sets. Sometimes that pursuit of career advancement, an opportunity to explore a passion, or take on new challenges means moving into a different role within the company.
Here are two BCD employees who successfully made the transition from travel agents to bid specialists.
Time at BCD: 3 years
I always loved the travel industry and heard about a six-week internship program with BCD Travel. This was my gateway in learning all about travel and once I successfully completed the internship became a full time travel agent. I loved working alongside my supervisor and fellow agents. As time went on in the world of operations, I knew I wanted to experience more at BCD and build my career here. I found out about the bid writing position and even got to speak with the manager prior to applying about what to expect. I was very excited because it was my chance to be creative and work in a flexible environment at home. I love working with BCD, and I am proud to be a part of this family. This has definitely been one of the best experiences I have encountered.
Time at BCD: 3 years
My love of traveling encouraged me to apply for a job in the travel industry. I found BCD’s six-week agent training program right in my own city. I learned a lot in those six weeks. And I learned even more working as a travel agent full-time for almost two years with many wonderful and supportive agents and supervisors. Over time I knew I wanted to stay with BCD for all of the opportunities and work-life balance it offers employees, but I also knew I was ready to move on from being an agent. I have a background in communications and internet marketing, so I applied for a bid writing position. It’s a role suited to my talents and personality and it couldn’t have been more right for me. I’m very lucky to have a job that lets me be creative and encourages me to develop new ideas. I am thankful for an opportunity that lets me work from my home (and the chance to move my home and take my job with me).
