Train travel is the most sustainable method of transport as travelling by train rather than road or air contributes to reducing on average 95% of CO2 emissions and only represents 1 % of the emissions. For every kilometer travelled train generates only 4 grams of CO2 compared to 47 grams for 2,2 passengers sharing an electric car, or even 260g compared to air travel.

Travelling responsibly is very important but innovation is too, and SNCF is very proud to introduce its 5th generation TGV entering in service early 2026. This TGV is going to be modular which means that classes of service can be changed at short notice. It will also be longer with one extra carriage providing an extra 20% capacity with 730 seats instead of the current 640. SNCF will continue to be greener as the new TGV will be recyclable at 97% and will save 20% more energy contributing to improve the CO2 footprint by an extra 97%. The on-board experience will very different too with brand new longer & wider seats, more luminosity too with windows 10% and all the seats will have a view.
