BCD TV: Information is power in protecting LGBTQ+ travelers

BCD Senior Vice President Kathy Bedell and BCD TV host Chad Lemon met at GBTA Convention 2023 in Dallas to discuss protecting the LGBTQ+ mobile workforce. Kathy Bedell’s take: Information is power when it comes to pre-, during and post-trip preparation and feedback from travelers.

Business travelers who are members of the LGBTQ+ (lesbian, gay, bi-sexual, transgender and queer) community must educate themselves about the laws, attitudes and cultural norms that could affect their safety and security. Travel managers should work to build an environment that helps ensure their safety on the road. The travel program can also support by sourcing and working with vendors who demonstrate their ability to support duty of care and serve travelers in this community.
