Companies working to make business travel more sustainable need credible evidence that their partners are putting those commitments into practice. Independent sustainability assessments such as EcoVadis give travel buyers a consistent reference point for evaluating suppliers’ sustainability management and procurement risk. BCD Travel’s seventh consecutive EcoVadis Platinum medal places us among the top 1% of companies assessed worldwide.
The Platinum rating is “meaningful because it recognizes the discipline of our teams in turning commitments into documented action and measurable results,” said Olivia Ruggles-Brise, BCD’s vice president of Sustainability. “We will continue to strengthen our approach, not for a medal, but because transparent, responsible business practices create long-term value for our clients, our people and the communities in which we operate.”
EcoVadis determines medals based on a company’s percentile rank against organizations assessed during the previous 12 months. That means maintaining Platinum requires continued progress as sustainability practices advance and the benchmark moves with them.
Why EcoVadis matters in sustainable procurement
Corporate travel sustainability extends beyond traveler choices and carbon emissions. It also includes the business practices of the partners supporting the travel program.
EcoVadis assesses companies across environment, labor and human rights, ethics and sustainable procurement, providing an independent reference point for evaluating suppliers, informing due diligence and checking whether a partner’s sustainability practices support their organization’s expectations.
In 2026, EcoVadis updated its methodology to introduce more detailed and traceable evidence, put greater focus on sustainability risks and make the assessment process more transparent. It also increased its use of 360° Watch, an AI tool that reviews publicly available information.
