Connections

ICE International daily connects Amsterdam, Utrecht and Arnhem with Oberhausen, Duisburg, Düsseldorf, Cologne, Frankfurt and Basel. The journey from Amsterdam to Cologne takes 2.38 hours, to Frankfurt Hbf is 3.55 hours. You will find connecting trains within Germany from all the ICE International stations. ICE International also operates a direct service to Basel on a daily basis, of course with connections to all major Swiss destinations.

Prices and seat reservation

Booking a ticket in advance means more options for cheap fares with semi-flexible conditions. You can combine semi- and non-flexible tickets in 1 trip. Semi-flexible tickets are booked in a specific train including seat reservation. A flexible ticket can be used on any train at the same day. A reservation on ICE International is not mandatory but we strongly recommend you reserve a seat. First class tickets always have a seat reservation includes without any extra cost.

Lounges

Besides the NS International Lounges in the Netherlands, virtually every major European station has a lounge that can make your stay at the station more pleasant. If you have a 1st class ticket, you can enjoy a free drink at the NS International Lounge in Amsterdam, Schiphol Airport and Rotterdam. DB Lounges are located in Berlin, Bremen, Cologne, Düsseldorf, Dresden, Essen, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Hannover, Leipzig, Mannheim, Münch, Nürnberg and Stuttgart. You will have free access to one of the international lounges if, on the day of travel, you have one of the following cards/tickets:

  • A valid 1st class DB tickets (except Supersparpreis (Europe) and Sparpreis Europe)
  • Bahn Comfort customers
  • Railteam-partner Loyalty card
