The business women’s guide to smart packing

Ever felt overwhelmed while packing for a business trip? Luckily you can make your next packing experience a breeze. Pack a punch on your next business outing with these nifty tips to help you power-dress on the go.

The suitcase

If travelling by air, you can usually take one bag and your carry-on suitcase onboard. Each airline has different size regulations, so be sure to check this before you take off. Regardless of how you’re travelling, look for lightweight, high-quality, easy-to-manoeuvre bags.

Swapping your laptop bag for a carry-on is a good idea since you only get one bag other than your suitcase to take on board. We suggest one with multiple compartments that can hold multiple items, including your laptop. This type of bag also works well for an overnight trip.

What to wear while travelling

The temperature in the airport compared to on the plane can vary drastically, so it’s a good idea to layer your clothing. Wear comfortable, casual clothes that you can re-wear during the trip if you have time to eat out at night. Wear flats while travelling – opt for non-slip soles and shoes that don’t produce a loud click-clack on tiles. It’s also one less thing to put into our suitcase and is best for walking long distances. Also, throw in a scarf – it adds flair to your outfit and keeps you warm if you need to layer up.

Try to avoid chunky jewellery or belts with buckles, as you will have to remove these when you pass through security scanners.

Crafting the Perfect Look

Balance your look just as you’d balance the books. Select some stylish investment pieces—think tailored blazers or sleek trousers—and mix them with timeless classics. This combo ensures a refined appearance from morning meetings to evening dinners.

Opt for chic neutrals each season, allowing easy mix-and-match combinations. Your handbag, luggage, and eyewear play pivotal roles too. Choose glasses that flatter your face shape, and when it comes to handbags, remember that while small bags are trending, they might not be the best for travel. Something classic, like a two-toned bag from brands such as Polo, is always a smart pick.

Accessories can significantly influence your ensemble. Consider bringing along a statement necklace, some striking earrings, and versatile scarves. And don’t forget those pearls! Modern pearls come in various designs and sizes. Select ones that resonate with your style; they’re sure to add an air of elegance.

The Art of Packing

Here’s a trick for wrinkle-free clothes: fold along the seams, smooth out any wrinkles, and then roll them up. Don’t skip the smoothing step! If you’re bringing winter wear, consider vacuum-sealed bags for bulkier items. They drastically reduce volume and free up space.
