In the news: India’s business travel boom

Global and domestic firms increasingly adopt travel service automation.

Business travel in India is transforming, as the country’s youngest workers demand mobile options and the rising cost of labor pushes more companies toward tech tools and automation.

A recent article in industry news outlet The Beat details opportunities and challenges in the Indian business travel market, which is experiencing phenomenal expansion on two fronts. More global firms are doing business in the country, and domestic companies are growing into large enterprises.

The Beat article quotes Ajay Bali, managing director of BCD Travel in India, on how rising wages are forcing change in what has traditionally been high-touch, person-to-person business travel service. One telling data point: Online adoption by BCD’s Indian clients moved from close to zero three years ago to 30% today.
