Around the world in six weeks with BCD Travel interns

Three recent college graduates will embark on a multi-city global tour and internship experience with BCD Travel this summer. Serena De Martino, Douwe Stoer and Mila Buga are the recipients of the 2019 Management Associate Program created by BCD Travel in partnership with the Association of Corporate Travel Executives (ACTE).

Three recent college graduates will embark on a multi-city global tour and internship experience with BCD Travel this summer. Serena De Martino, Douwe Stoer and Mila Buga are the recipients of the 2019 Management Associate Program created by BCD Travel in partnership with the Association of Corporate Travel Executives (ACTE).

The first part of the program features an eight-city global trip in which the participants will be introduced to business travel practices at BCD offices in Paris, Amsterdam, Utrecht, New York, Atlanta, Shanghai and Mumbai. Following the tour, the management associates will begin six-month internships at sponsoring BCD offices. Throughout the program, they’ll meet with senior leaders in the industry to receive formal training in various business travel operations.

Serena De Martino, based in London | University of West London

How did you find out about the program?

“Before completing my MA at the University of West London, I received an email suggesting that I apply for the Around the World program. It was exactly what I wanted. thought my chances of being selected were slim, considering the number of people applying.”

How do you feel now that you’ve been selected?

“I could not imagine a better way to start my career in corporate travel. I’m eager to develop new skills and to grow as a professional in an exciting and dynamic industry.”

Douwe Stoer, based in Utrecht, NL | Breda University

What was the interview process like?

“The interview process was comprehensive and took place over more than one month. I went through eight different selection rounds. There was a video pitch, question forms to fill out and five separate interviews – an intense process and a valuable experience. I’m looking forward to what’s to come.”

How did you feel when you were finally accepted to the Management Associate Program?

“Every time I passed to the next round of interviews, I would get even more excited, but I’d also get even more nervous. When I was finally offered the position, I was completely overjoyed.”

What are you most looking forward to during this program?

“I’m looking forward to exploring the world of travel management, visiting successful and established companies, and learning about the business from the inside.”

How does it feel to be a 2019 management associate?

“It’s an incredible opportunity to develop professionally. I’m so grateful to be a part of the program this year.”
