Our new The Journey Ahead video shows you how updating and communicating your travel policy, listening to your people, and leveraging TripSource® mobile can help you prepare for the future of travel in the age of COVID-19. We’ll walk you through the five phases of the traveler journey through the eyes of the traveler—from the decision to go to the return home.
New considerations and demands
Before COVID-19, travel was an almost weekly event for many business travelers—sometimes planned, sometimes an unexpected day trip. The biggest pain point for many road warriors was the time wasted at airports and in transit to and from appointments. Now business travelers have other concerns, and that’s staying healthy.
The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted traveler sentiment and expectations. The decision to travel has become more personal, leading to a fundamental change in the trip experience. There are new considerations and demands, and the success of your travel program will be based on facts and information.
From the decision to go to the return home
The traveler journey can be broken out into five distinct phases:
Pre COVID-19 the focus for travel programs was mainly on two phases: booking and journey. The booking phase was about guiding travelers to the right channels and the right choices at the point of sale. The journey is about keeping travelers safe and confident during their trip, while influencing unmanaged spend.
In the age of COVID-19, we need to shift focus back to those five phases of the journey and start with the decision.
