TripSource® App aids travelers and programs

Improve traveler satisfaction and engagement.

As a mobile app independent of any GDS or booking tool, BCD Travel’s TripSource gives travelers the utility of consumer mobile apps and offers travel managers the opportunity to extend travel program influence. See how your company can use this powerful new platform to boost communication with travelers while improving their satisfaction and engagement.

In 2013 mobile hit a milestone: More people used mobile devices than computers to go online. That statistic from business research group Gartner shows with certainty that mobile is here to stay—especially among business travelers. Seventy five percent of corporate travelers use a smartphone when they travel (1), and nearly two-thirds of them use their own mobile devices (2). Among road warriors, 35% use itinerary management apps (3), and 20% book travel via mobile (4). Now businesses can offer their on-the-go employees the kinds of robust mobile tools that meet their needs, while also guiding them toward smart buying choices.

A company-supported application like BCD Travel’s TripSource® app is a great way to extend travel program influence and boost traveler engagement, either on a company-provided device or a personal one. TripSource also offers unprecedented flexibility to corporate travel programs because this single app can cross GDS borders—meaning travelers can use it no matter which booking tool was used to set up their trip. Most importantly, TripSource gives business travelers the intuitive tools they need to help themselves on the road. Just six months into its launch, TripSource has become a trusted resource for thousands of business travelers who are using the app to:

  • Stay up to date on BCD Travel itineraries, including air, hotel, car, rail and ground transportation
  • Share itineraries with family, friends and colleagues
  • Get real-time flight status and gate-change alerts
  • Find maps and directions in cities around the globe
  • Receive helpful advice and reminders for smarter, safer travel

The app has proven so valuable to travelers that 92% of travelers who download TripSource use it again and again.

TripSource at a glance

TripSource automatically syncs all BCD Travel-booked trips with secure account registration. This intelligent app gives travelers quick access to vital travel information. But, unlike most business travel apps, it showcases consumer-grade design and usability. TripSource organizes information into user-friendly trip folders; travelers can shake the device or drag the folder to reveal a stacked timeline of trip cards, one for each part of the journey. Because it is “state aware,” TripSource offers the most relevant information first, showing the upcoming segment at the top of the stack. Other features, like trip sharing; real-time flight stats; push notifications for delayed or canceled flights; the ability to “tap to call” the hotel; and full maps and directions for navigation all make TripSource an app travelers won’t want to do without. BCD Travel’s own road warriors have been using the device as it has rolled out around the globe. “Registration is simple, navigation is very user friendly, and it helps keep me organized when I’m on the road,” says Rossana Martin, BCD Travel vice president of sales. “We’re an on-the-go company, just like our customers, so we knew what traveler-friendly features we wanted in our TripSource app,” says April Bridgeman, BCD Travel’s senior vice president of strategic marketing. “But unlike other travel app providers, we not only have a deep understanding of what business travelers want, but also what corporate travel programs need to succeed. Today, TripSource is an itinerary management app, but very soon it will be much more. In addition to providing travelers with the convenience of anytime access to itineraries and travel changes, the app will improve communication with travelers, encourage employee compliance and build program credibility with travelers.”
