BCD Travel changes top leadership

John Snyder has become president and CEO and Mike Janssen is promoted to COO.

John Snyder, BCD Travel’s former president and chief operating officer, has become president and chief executive officer of the company. The move took effect May 1, and coincided with company executive Mike Janssen’s promotion to chief operating officer. Janssen retains his current responsibilities as president of the Americas region.

The changes follow Joop Drechsel’s decision to step down as CEO of BCD Travel to focus more on his responsibilities as CEO of BCD Group, the private holding company for BCD Travel and several other firms.

“These changes are a natural progression for our leaders,” Drechsel said. “This is the team that has led BCD Travel to consistent success in sales, customer retention and expansion, and I believe that John and Mike, along with our Global Chief Financial Officer Stephan Baars, are uniquely positioned to lead the company through its next era of growth.”

Since joining BCD Travel in 1992, Snyder has aggressively driven strategic alignment and performance improvements within the company. In 2013, he was named to the 30th annual list of the Top 25 most influential business travel executives, compiled by Business Travel News publisher The BTN Group.

Mike Janssen, a 20-year veteran with BCD Travel, has been instrumental in shaping, strengthening and growing the Americas region and contributing to the company’s overall global growth.

Last year was BCD Travel’s sixth consecutive year with more than US$1 billion in new air sales awarded. The company’s client-retention rate of 97% continued to lead the market. In mid-2013, BCD Travel acquired online business travel company Travelocity Business in one of the largest acquisitions in the history of the corporate travel industry.
