Lockheed Martin, Siemens and WellPoint earn recognition

Three travel managers earned recognition for innovative work in adapting business travel programs to fit today’s corporate and traveler needs.

Congratulations to Lockheed Martin’s Mark Stansbury, Siemens’ Steven Schoen and WellPoint’s Cindy Heston, chosen by Business Travel News as three of the best business travel practitioners in the U.S. for 2013.

The travel managers, all of whom work for companies that are clients of BCD Travel or Tbiz, earned the recognition for their innovative work in adapting business travel programs to fit today’s corporate and traveler needs. Here are excerpts from the BTN articles describing their successes:

Lockheed Martin’s Mark Stansbury
“Finding incremental savings is a perennial challenge for managers of mature travel programs, but Lockheed Martin global travel and event services manager Mark Stansbury in June 2012 implemented an automated process for tracking and reusing unused nonrefundable air tickets to achieve just that.”

Siemens’ Steven Schoen
“In spurring his company’s preferred meetings management technology provider and online booking tool to integrate, Siemens’ Steven Schoen helped make the often-slippery process of calculating meetings spending all but transparent. That gave department heads and other meetings budget-holders a clear view of all the costs—including air travel—involved in hosting an event.”

WellPoint’s Cindy Heston
“Travel buyers usually choose between one of two approaches for implementing travel management technology: build the technology within their organizations or find a third-party supplier with the technology they need. WellPoint Manager of Strategic Sourcing for Meetings and Events Cindy Heston prefers a third way: have those third-party suppliers adapt their technology to meet her company’s needs, an approach she has used during the past few years to transform airline booking, hotel rate auditing and meetings sourcing.”

BCD Travel applauds Mark, Steven and Cindy for their vision and leadership.
