In the news:  TMCs expanding ways travelers reach agents

BCD Travel tech expert sees ‘simulchannel’ integrated communications shaping the future.

Business travelers can take their pick of communication channels to reach an agent about their trip—and the options should only get better from here, reports industry news site The Beat.

The article quotes Miriam Moscovici, BCD Travel’s director of emerging technologies, about her view of an integrated communications future that goes beyond “omnichannel” to what she calls “simulchannel.”

“That means not just supporting multiple text-based or voice-based options but handling them consistently and seamlessly,” The Beat reported. Moscovici told the news site that “regardless of mode, communications with agencies should be ‘contextually aware.’ It continues this ongoing conversation related to a particular trip, which has many, many phases: starting from ideation to getting reimbursed for your trip and everything in between.”

Moscovici told The Beat that a traveler’s ‘simulchannel’ communications should offer an experience like Netflix “where you can start streaming a program on a tablet, continue watching it on your mobile phone and then finish it on your television—and ‘don’t miss a beat.’”
