Buying Business Travel asks Advito’s advice for managing empowered travelers.

A recent article in Buying Business Travel quotes Advito Managing Director April Bridgeman on how travel buyers can prepare for Travel Management 3.0—the time when business travelers will be firmly in control of their travel plans and choices, primarily via mobile technology.

Travel Management 3.0 “requires letting go of some traditional beliefs and knee-jerk practices,” Bridgeman said, adding that travel managers must treat travelers like consumers as they gain greater control. “Some clients have realized that policy compliance just isn’t enough and is a rather weak and limited strategy,” she said. “They’ve broadened their impact by implementing traveler engagement strategies so travelers can make better buying decisions.”

Other Advito clients are preparing for the future by moving toward real-time spend management that focuses on constant analysis and ongoing action, rather than on adherence to annual sourcing cycles. “We call that dynamic performance management,” Bridgeman said.
