Getting to and from the airport

Washington Dulles International Airport is 26 miles (42 kilometers) west of central Washington. Masks are required for everyone at the airport, including passengers. Taxis are available on the lower terminal level at Doors 2 or 6. Taxi rides to the city center average US$63-$71. Ride-sharing passengers can meet rides at a dedicated location on the ground level outside of Baggage Claim, accessible via Doors 2, 4 or 6. The Silver Line Express bus provides non-stop service between the airport and Wiehle-Reston East Metro Station downtown. A one-way trip is $5.

Getting around the city

The Metrorail and Metrobus are economical and efficient options to get to your destination. Metrorail fares vary by length and time of day. The system operates from 5 a.m. to midnight on weekdays and from 7 a.m. to midnight on weekends. Regular Metrobus fares are $2.00. Buses run from 4 a.m. to midnight. First bus times vary by route. Last buses depart starting points at or before midnight. Washington, D.C., also operates the D.C. Circulator: five bus routes with easy access to points of interest. Operating hours vary by route. Buses arrive every 10 minutes and fares are $1.

Taxis and rideshares are readily available throughout the district. Passengers should review the COVID regulations and mask mandates for their preferred mode of travel.
