Thanks to EU roaming rules, the cost of making and receiving calls abroad within the EU is now substantially cheaper than a decade ago, when the EU first started to tackle excessive roaming charges.
The maximum rates (excluding VAT) for calls, texts and downloading per April 30 are:

As from June 2017 there will be no extra roaming fee and the normal domestic price will be applicable when traveling in the EU.
