In the news: Responding to travel risks

Kathy Bedell recounts corporate response to Paris attacks.

Following last month’s attacks in Paris, business executives stepped up efforts to ensure their employees are being cared for on the road, Chief Executive magazine reports.

Kathy-BedellIn the article, BCD Travel Senior Vice President Kathy Bedell recounts corporate response to the attacks. The travel management company activated its European emergency center and verified the safety of clients’ employees traveling to Paris on business trips, as well as the safety of BCD’s Paris-based staff. In the first 48 hours, clients canceled nearly 400 bookings to Paris.

Bedell offers advice to firms that didn’t know what to do to for their affected travelers. “We’re strongly urging companies to make sure they have a travel risk management plan in place that includes traveler contact information and confirmation of whereabouts—before they send travelers on the road.”
