[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Since 2012, the airline has reduced emissions on European flights by more than eight million tonnes – around 40% on every European flight.
They are investing in new technology and offsetting to reduce the environmental impact on behalf of their customers. Customers can do this by using the carbon offsetting tool (accessed via https://www.pureleapfrog.org/ba/carbon_neutral/). The carbon tool enables customers to calculate their emissions and then invest in carbon reduction projects including high quality forestry and renewable energy. A customer pays around £1 to offset a return flight from London to Madrid, travelling in economy, while from London to New York a return in business class costs around £14.
In a UK first, in addition to the existing option for customers to offset their emissions, they can also purchase SAF fuel to reduce their carbon footprint via Pure Leapfrog or at 30,000 feet via our .air portal.
Customers can now also offset their emissions via our onboard Speedbird Café menu app. A category can be found on the BA Better World tab labelled ‘Contribute to Carbon Offsets’, where customers on European flights can help fund carbon reduction projects around the world. The £2.50 contribution represents the carbon compensation of an average British Airways European return flight per customer, and the funds are invested in verified CO2 emissions reduction and avoidance projects.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
