What should business travelers have on hand when visiting your city?

“A good pair of walking shoes is a must. Savannah is a walkable city with lots of historic sites to see on foot. Be sure to bring sunscreen or a stylish hat during the summer months.”

What are your top restaurant recommendations for a business lunch or dinner?

The Olde Pink House (23 Abercron St.; Ph: 912-232-4286) is a great option for fine dining, offering traditional Southern cuisine in an 18th century mansion. Alligator Soul (114 Barnard St.; Ph: 912-232-7899) is a Cajun-style restaurant serving locally sourced and organic ingredients in dishes such as shrimp and grits, a regional favorite. Our own 22 Square (14 Barnard St., Ph: 912-233-2116) offers farm-to-table Southern staples like pan-seared chicken and crispy pork belly with unexpected twists. Check out 22 Square Bar’s craft cocktails, too. A Georgia Mint Julep, anyone?”

What’s something that surprises guests about your city or hotel?

“Savannah is considered to be one of the most haunted cities in America. If you enjoy a spooky story or two, take an evening tour among the ghosts. Also, our hotel (and Andaz as a brand) is unique because we don’t have a traditional front desk. We greet guests on arrival—with a complimentary beverage—and tailor the check-in process to their needs.”

If business travelers only have a few hours for leisure, what must they see?

“A trolley tour of Savannah gives a great overview of the city’s history in just 90 minutes. If you have extra time, hop off at one of the trolley stops and get back on again after looking around. Trolley tickets are valid all day.”

What’s the best option for outdoor exercise?

“Take a walk or jog to Forsyth Park in the heart of the historic district. Make sure to stop and admire the park’s widely photographed fountain. If you’re up for a short drive, head over to Tybee Island for a walk on the beach. You’ll also find casual seaside dining and a vibrant social scene there.”

Business know-how

Concierge Eric Haley’s top tips for getting business right in Savannah:

Tip 1: Expect Southern hospitality. Strangers will greet you and offer you directions or assistance. They’re absolutely being genuine.

Tip 2: Slow your pace. People don’t rush in Savannah, so be prepared to linger over business lunches or dinners.

Tip 3: Savannah is a casual and comfortable city. Jackets are rarely required, even for fine dining.
