2018 – an award-winning year for BCD Travel

Sustainability gold rating by EcoVadis, the 2018 International Business Awards’ Gold Stevie® for TripSource, John Snyder 2018 Responsible CEO of the Year, ‘Most Admired TMC’.

Our efforts in sustainability and technological innovation are highly valued in the industry. In 2018, we received important awards, eg: sustainability gold rating by EcoVadis, the 2018 International Business Awards’ Gold Stevie® for TripSource, John Snyder was named 2018 Responsible CEO of the Year and BCD Travel was named ‘Most Admired TMC’.

BCD Travel earns 3rd gold for sustainability efforts

BCD Travel has earned its third gold rating for its sustainability efforts. The rating places the travel management company in the top 1% of all suppliers assessed by EcoVadis, the leading platform for corporate social responsibility audits for global supply chains.

Some progress that factored into BCD’s 2018 gold ranking included:

  • Improved reporting to align with new GRI Standards
  • New global management system for environment, health and safety
  • Increase in the number of global locations certified to ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 to 70%
  • Improved environmental reporting, including a Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) submission and a carbon verification statement
  • Additional global policies for labor practices, human rights and sustainable procurement

TripSource earns traveler and industry praise

It has been a year of evolution for BCD Travel’s TripSource®. Over the past 12 months, the mobile app and web platform has added more than 10 new features, and the app has earned three awards for innovation. Some of the enhancements are sizable—like biometric login and flight booking. Others are incremental, such as trip merge capabilities that simplify bleisure trips.

Among this year’s TripSource enhancements:

TripSource’s innovations have earned third-party recognition, too. The app recently won the 2018 International Business Awards’ Gold Stevie® in the travel category, largely for usability and the value it brings to business travelers. One judge described TripSource as a “great way to streamline the travel process.” Earlier this year, the app earned a Best Mobile App Award, and late last year it took home the Web Marketing Association’s Outstanding Mobile App Award.

John Snyder named 2018 Responsible CEO of the Year

BCD Travel’s decade-long, global sustainability initiative has earned international recognition for its President and CEO John Snyder. CR Magazine named Snyder 2018 Responsible CEO of the Year for a Private Company. The award recognizes corporate leaders committed to a progressive environmental, social, and governance (ESG) agenda.

“I consider this award a recognition of the collective efforts of everyone at BCD Travel globally,” said Snyder. “I hope it inspires other CEOs to join our commitment to putting sustainability at the core of everything they do—to ensure ongoing business success without limiting options for future generations.”

BCD Travel named ‘Most Admired TMC’ for sixth time

BCD Travel has been named 2018 Most Admired Travel Management Company by The BTN Group. The designation was bestowed by readers of The Beat, a widely read business travel newsletter and website. It is the company’s sixth award.

The award was based on a poll conducted this summer that asked readers to choose the company they “most admire for its policies, management style and service for business clients.” The Beat readers assessed companies from six sectors: airline, hotel, car rental, TMC, tech provider and payment system. Participants were not allowed to vote for their own employers.

“We’re honored by this recognition that our colleagues, peers and clients have given to our company,” said John Snyder, BCD Travel president and chief executive officer. “I’m proud of our entire global workforce for their commitment to innovation and excellence in customer service, which is reflected in our being singled out.”

The ‘Most Admired TMC’ award joins other recent accolades for BCD, including being named one of America’s Best Employers for Women 2018 by Forbes and ranking 29 on a list of 100 companies noted for flexible work environments by Flexjobs, among other recognition.
