BCD Travel selects SAP Customer Data Cloud to provide clients a unified and robust set of profile and access management capabilities

UTRECHT, The Netherlands – February 13, 2019 – BCD Travel today announced plans to introduce their third-generation traveler identity management system built on the industry leading SAP Customer Data Cloud solution. The new solution will transform BCD’s existing TripSource® Profile Manager into a digital-first solution that combines three unique functions – 1: traveler identity management, 2: traveler consent management and 3: traveler profile management – in one unified platform.

Among its many advantages, the SAP-backed system will enable more personalized service and support; seamless and secure access to trip management tools; advanced multi-factor authentication (MFA) and authentication options; and a customer-based consent solution that provides travelers with better transparency and control over the use of their personal data beyond European Union General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) minimums.

“In this age of highly personalized services, it’s critical to invest in open, cloud-based technologies.  We’re excited to partner with SAP to bring our clients and travelers the latest in digital technology.” said Yannis Karmis, Senior Vice President, Product Planning and Development, BCD Travel. “Through this investment with SAP’s Customer Data Cloud technology, we can lead the industry by offering a truly unified global system with rich and actionable profile information that touches every service channel for both BCD and for our customers.”

The SAP Customer Data Cloud is part of the SAP C/4HANA suite which includes CRM and other Customer Experience solutions. SAP is leading the transformation to digital cloud services, offering solutions like SAP Concur Travel and Expense, SAP SuccessFactors for human capital management and SAP Fieldglass for external workforce management and services procurement. All are used extensively by BCD clients. “We look forward to partnering with SAP on ways to extend our SAP Customer Data Cloud investments more broadly across the SAP portfolio,” said Karmis.

“The addition of SAP Customer Data Cloud to BCD Travel moves BCD towards being a true Intelligent Enterprise. By using first-party customer data effectively, BCD will achieve desired outcomes faster – and with less risk,” said Ben Jackson, General Manager, SAP Customer Data Cloud.  “Eliminating customer data silos will improve the performance of other SAP systems at BCD Travel by enabling a trusted single view of their customers.”

After evaluating several traveler identity management technologies, BCD found SAP’s Customer Data Cloud strategy to be directly in line with BCD’s core tenets of simple, digital, adaptive and global, Karmis said. “Any decisions we make regarding our technology investments are assessed against this framework,” he said. “The SAP Customer Data Cloud solution checked all four of these boxes, making it the right decision.”

BCD customers will begin to see the benefit of the new profile system in the second half of 2019.
